Mitre 10 has been a part of New Zealand’s DIY culture since 1974. Wholly New Zealand owned and operated with around 100 stores from Invercargill to Kaitaia, Mitre 10 is an amazing Kiwi success story. Mitre 10 is more than twice the size of its nearest competitor and continues to grow through both share of market and number of stores. In 2004 Mitre 10 New Zealand Limited opened its first Mitre 10 MEGA store in Hastings and like almost all the MEGA stores it is a local, family owned business. In this case it is owned by the Ricketts family who have been part of Mitre 10 since almost the beginning and were hardware retailers in the Hawkes Bay for many years before joining the Mitre 10 network.

The Mitre 10 MEGA store offers our customers an increased product range and extra services like cafes and play areas for children as well as extensive garden centres and drive through areas for both the trade and retail customers.

The hugely successful Mega store network is currently undergoing rapid expansion with an average six stores per year planned or built in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 financial years.

To support this expansion we have aggressively expanded our sourcing capabilities in both New Zealand and China, steadily building upon our competitive advantage of great pricing and increased range for our customers.
